Amend Senate Bill 115 as follows: 3 on page 8, by replacing lines 10 through 29 with the 4 following: 5 "(j) Except at the time of sale or repossession of the 6 vehicle, no person licensed as a new vehicle dealer may issue 7 any other person a newly created key to a vehicle unless the 8 new vehicle dealer makes a copy of the driver's license or 9 State identification card of the person requesting or 10 obtaining the newly created key. The new vehicle dealer must 11 retain the copy for 30 days. 12 A new vehicle dealer who violates this subsection (j) is 13 guilty of a petty offense. Violation of this subsection (j) 14 is not cause to suspend, revoke, cancel, or deny renewal of 15 the new vehicle dealer's license."; and 16 on page 15, by replacing lines 7 through 26 with the 17 following: 18 "(k) Except at the time of sale or repossession of the 19 vehicle, no person licensed as a used vehicle dealer may 20 issue any other person a newly created key to a vehicle 21 unless the used vehicle dealer makes a copy of the driver's 22 license or State identification card of the person requesting 23 or obtaining the newly created key. The used vehicle dealer -2- LRB9200602DHmbam03 1 must retain the copy for 30 days. 2 A used vehicle dealer who violates this subsection (k) is 3 guilty of a petty offense. Violation of this subsection (k) 4 is not cause to suspend, revoke, cancel, or deny renewal of 5 the used vehicle dealer's license.".
