Amend House Bill 923, AS AMENDED, in 3 the body of Section 5, by inserting after the period at the 4 end of the second paragraph of Sec. 1 the following: 5 "To be eligible for selection as a student member, to be 6 eligible for designation by the Governor as a student member 7 who has the right to vote, and to be eligible to remain as a 8 voting or nonvoting student member of the Board, a student 9 member must be a resident of this State, must have and 10 maintain a grade point average that is equivalent to at least 11 2.5 on a 4.0 scale, and must be enrolled for a minimum of 8 12 semester hours of university credit at all times during his 13 or her term of office except for that part of the term which 14 follows the completion of the last full regular semester of 15 an academic year and precedes the first full regular semester 16 of the succeeding academic year at the university (sometimes 17 commonly referred to as the summer session or summer school). 18 If a voting or nonvoting student member serving on the Board 19 fails to continue to meet or maintain the residency, minimum 20 grade point average, or minimum semester hour enrollment 21 requirement established by this Section, his or her 22 membership on the Board shall be deemed to have terminated by 23 operation of law."; and -2- LRB9003488THpkam 1 in the body of Section 5, in the last line of Sec. 1, by 2 replacing "nonvoting" with "nonvoting"; and 3 in the body of Section 10, by inserting after "June 30." at 4 the end of the third sentence of Sec. 2 the following: 5 "To be eligible for selection as a student member, to be 6 eligible for designation by the Governor (as provided in 7 Section 5) as a student member who has the right to vote, and 8 to be eligible to remain as a voting or nonvoting student 9 member of the Board, a student member must be a resident of 10 this State, must have and maintain a grade point average that 11 is equivalent to at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale, and must be 12 enrolled for a minimum of 8 semester hours of university 13 credit at all times during his or her term of office except 14 for that part of the term which follows the completion of the 15 last full regular semester of an academic year and precedes 16 the first full regular semester of the succeeding academic 17 year at the university (sometimes commonly referred to as the 18 summer session or summer school). If a voting or nonvoting 19 student member serving on the Board fails to continue to meet 20 or maintain the residency, minimum grade point average, or 21 minimum semester hour enrollment requirement established by 22 this Section, his or her membership on the Board shall be 23 deemed to have terminated by operation of law."; and 24 in the body of Section 15, by inserting after "June 30." at 25 the end of the third sentence of Sec. 5-15 the following: 26 "To be eligible for selection as a student member and to be 27 eligible to remain as a student member of the Board, the 28 student member must be a resident of this State, must have 29 and maintain a grade point average that is equivalent to at 30 least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale, and must be enrolled for a minimum 31 of 8 semester hours of university credit at all times during 32 his or her term of office except for that part of the term 33 which follows the completion of the last full regular -3- LRB9003488THpkam 1 semester of an academic year and precedes the first full 2 regular semester of the succeeding academic year at the 3 university (sometimes commonly referred to as the summer 4 session or summer school). If a student member serving on 5 the Board fails to continue to meet or maintain the 6 residency, minimum grade point average, or minimum semester 7 hour enrollment requirement established by this Section, his 8 or her membership on the Board shall be deemed to have 9 terminated by operation of law."; and 10 in the body of Section 20, by inserting after "June 30." at 11 the end of the third sentence of Sec. 10-15 the following: 12 "To be eligible for selection as a student member and to be 13 eligible to remain as a student member of the Board, the 14 student member must be a resident of this State, must have 15 and maintain a grade point average that is equivalent to at 16 least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale, and must be enrolled for a minimum 17 of 8 semester hours of university credit at all times during 18 his or her term of office except for that part of the term 19 which follows the completion of the last full regular 20 semester of an academic year and precedes the first full 21 regular semester of the succeeding academic year at the 22 university (sometimes commonly referred to as the summer 23 session or summer school). If a student member serving on 24 the Board fails to continue to meet or maintain the 25 residency, minimum grade point average, or minimum semester 26 hour enrollment requirement established by this Section, his 27 or her membership on the Board shall be deemed to have 28 terminated by operation of law."; and 29 in the body of Section 25, by inserting after "June 30." at 30 the end of the third sentence of Sec. 15-15 the following: 31 "To be eligible for selection as a student member and to be 32 eligible to remain as a student member of the Board, the 33 student member must be a resident of this State, must have -4- LRB9003488THpkam 1 and maintain a grade point average that is equivalent to at 2 least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale, and must be enrolled for a minimum 3 of 8 semester hours of university credit at all times during 4 his or her term of office except for that part of the term 5 which follows the completion of the last full regular 6 semester of an academic year and precedes the first full 7 regular semester of the succeeding academic year at the 8 university (sometimes commonly referred to as the 9 spring/summer semester). If a student member serving on the 10 Board fails to continue to meet or maintain the residency, 11 minimum grade point average, or minimum semester hour 12 enrollment requirement established by this Section, his or 13 her membership on the Board shall be deemed to have 14 terminated by operation of law."; and 15 in the body of Section 30, by inserting after "June 30." at 16 the end of the third sentence of Sec. 20-15 the following: 17 "To be eligible for selection as a student member and to be 18 eligible to remain as a student member of the Board, the 19 student member must be a resident of this State, must have 20 and maintain a grade point average that is equivalent to at 21 least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale, and must be enrolled for a minimum 22 of 8 semester hours of university credit at all times during 23 his or her term of office except for that part of the term 24 which follows the completion of the last full regular 25 semester of an academic year and precedes the first full 26 regular semester of the succeeding academic year at the 27 university (sometimes commonly referred to as the summer 28 session or summer school). If a student member serving on 29 the Board fails to continue to meet or maintain the 30 residency, minimum grade point average, or minimum semester 31 hour enrollment requirement established by this Section, his 32 or her membership on the Board shall be deemed to have 33 terminated by operation of law."; and -5- LRB9003488THpkam 1 in the body of Section 35, by inserting after "June 30." at 2 the end of the third sentence of Sec. 25-15 the following: 3 "To be eligible for selection as a student member and to be 4 eligible to remain as a student member of the Board, the 5 student member must be a resident of this State, must have 6 and maintain a grade point average that is equivalent to at 7 least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale, and must be enrolled for a minimum 8 of 8 semester hours of university credit at all times during 9 his or her term of office except for that part of the term 10 which follows the completion of the last full regular 11 semester of an academic year and precedes the first full 12 regular semester of the succeeding academic year at the 13 university (sometimes commonly referred to as the summer 14 session or summer school). If a student member serving on 15 the Board fails to continue to meet or maintain the 16 residency, minimum grade point average, or minimum semester 17 hour enrollment requirement established by this Section, his 18 or her membership on the Board shall be deemed to have 19 terminated by operation of law."; and 20 in the body of Section 40, by inserting after "June 30." at 21 the end of the third sentence of Sec. 30-15 the following: 22 "To be eligible for selection as a student member and to be 23 eligible to remain as a student member of the Board, the 24 student member must be a resident of this State, must have 25 and maintain a grade point average that is equivalent to at 26 least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale, and must be enrolled for a minimum 27 of 8 semester hours of university credit at all times during 28 his or her term of office except for that part of the term 29 which follows the completion of the last full regular 30 semester of an academic year and precedes the first full 31 regular semester of the succeeding academic year at the 32 university (sometimes commonly referred to as the summer 33 session or summer school). If a student member serving on 34 the Board fails to continue to meet or maintain the -6- LRB9003488THpkam 1 residency, minimum grade point average, or minimum semester 2 hour enrollment requirement established by this Section, his 3 or her membership on the Board shall be deemed to have 4 terminated by operation of law."; and 5 in the body of Section 45, by inserting after "June 30." at 6 the end of the third sentence of Sec. 35-15 the following: 7 "To be eligible for selection as a student member and to be 8 eligible to remain as a student member of the Board, the 9 student member must be a resident of this State, must have 10 and maintain a grade point average that is equivalent to at 11 least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale, and must be enrolled for a minimum 12 of 8 semester hours of university credit at all times during 13 his or her term of office except for that part of the term 14 which follows the completion of the last full regular 15 semester of an academic year and precedes the first full 16 regular semester of the succeeding academic year at the 17 university (sometimes commonly referred to as the summer 18 session or summer school). If a student member serving on 19 the Board fails to continue to meet or maintain the 20 residency, minimum grade point average, or minimum semester 21 hour enrollment requirement established by this Section, his 22 or her membership on the Board shall be deemed to have 23 terminated by operation of law.".
