Synopsis As Introduced Amends the Illinois Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology Practice Act. Provides that the Department of Financial and Professional Regulation shall issue a waiver of the 100-hour supervised field work requirement for a licensed speech-language pathology assistant who completed a program of study that includes general education and the specific knowledge and skills for a speech-language pathology assistant in a state in which the 100-hour requirement is not required if, in the opinion of the Department, the person has completed comparable work in the field equal to that completed in a speech-language pathology assistant program in the State.
House Committee Amendment No. 1 Provides that the Department of Financial and Professional Responsibility shall issue a waiver of the 100-hour supervised field work requirement if, in the opinion of the Department, the person has completed work in the field comparable to that completed in a speech-language pathology assistant program in the State (rather than comparable work in the field equal to that completed in a speech-language pathology assistant program in the State).
Replaces everything after the enacting clause. Amends the Illinois Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology Practice Act. Provides that a person is qualified to be licensed as a speech-language pathology assistant if the person meets specified requirements and that person has received a bachelor's degree in speech-language pathology or communication sciences and disorders from a regionally or nationally accredited institution approved by the Department of Financial and Professional Regulation and evidence of completion of at least 100 hours of documented field work supervised by a licensed speech-language pathologist that is comparable to that completed in a speech-language pathology assistant program in this State.
