SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Richard "Dick" L. Largen of Bethalto, who passed away on March 11, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Richard Largen was born on July 11, 1935 in Flora, Indiana; his parents were Wilbur and Dora Largen; he married Gertrud Dallinger on April 10, 1959 in Germany; and

WHEREAS, Richard Largen retired from the United States Army after 20 years of service; he was one of the first Green Berets and personally received his beret from President John F. Kennedy; and

WHEREAS, Richard Largen and his wife were well known for their booth at Goshen Farmers Market; he also enjoyed spending time with his family; and

WHEREAS, Richard Largen was a member of Alton Veterans of Foreign Wars #1308, the Illinois Bee Keepers Association, and the Special Forces Association - Martha Ray Chapter; and

WHEREAS, Richard Largen is survived by his wife, Gertrud; his children and their spouses, Richard "Rick" and Kim Largen, Juanita and Dave Vautrin, Susan Ferguson, and David Largen; his grandchildren, Robert and Allan Largen, Nicholas Salamanchuk, Branden Slayden, and Dustin Largen; and his great-granddaughter, Dakota Slayden; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Richard "Dick" L. Largen; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Richard Largen as an expression of our sympathy.
