SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Richard "Dick" L. Largen of Bethalto, who
4passed away on March 11, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Richard Largen was born on July 11, 1935 in Flora,
6Indiana; his parents were Wilbur and Dora Largen; he married
7Gertrud Dallinger on April 10, 1959 in Germany; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Richard Largen retired from the United States Army
9after 20 years of service; he was one of the first Green Berets
10and personally received his beret from President John F.
11Kennedy; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Richard Largen and his wife were well known for
13their booth at Goshen Farmers Market; he also enjoyed spending
14time with his family; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Richard Largen was a member of Alton Veterans of
16Foreign Wars #1308, the Illinois Bee Keepers Association, and
17the Special Forces Association - Martha Ray Chapter; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Richard Largen is survived by his wife, Gertrud;
19his children and their spouses, Richard "Rick" and Kim Largen,
20Juanita and Dave Vautrin, Susan Ferguson, and David Largen; his

1grandchildren, Robert and Allan Largen, Nicholas Salamanchuk,
2Branden Slayden, and Dustin Largen; and his
3great-granddaughter, Dakota Slayden; therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
6family and friends, mourn the passing of Richard "Dick" L.
7Largen; and be it further
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9presented to the family of Richard Largen as an expression of
10our sympathy.
