SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Nancy Arends of River Forest, who passed away on August 26, 2022 at the age of 88; and

WHEREAS, Nancy Arends was born on July 18, 1934 to the late Kirk and Virginia Holland; and

WHEREAS, Nancy Arends attended college at Northwestern University, where she joined the Gamma Phi Beta Sorority and graduated with a degree in education; and

WHEREAS, Nancy Arends, after graduating from Northwestern in 1956, married Chuck Arends in 1957, and shortly thereafter, they located to River Forest; and

WHEREAS, Nancy Arends taught at Irving Elementary School in Oak Park for over 35 years and, upon retirement, continued to work with young children at Galewood Child Care Center; and

WHEREAS, Nancy Arends was a longtime member of the River Forest Tennis Club and the First Presbyterian Church of River Forest; and

WHEREAS, Nancy Arends loved to knit and play cards, but most of all, she loved watching her children and grandchildren participate in sports; and

WHEREAS, At the time of her passing, Nancy Arends was survived by her children, Mary-Kirk (Robert) Reyff, Virginia (Robert) Palmer, Chuck (Susan) Arends, and Dan (Sue) Arends; her grandchildren, Kristy (Kyle) Wasser, Ryan Reyff, Heather Welesko, Kelly (Luke) Kirsh, Ryan (Stephanie) Palmer, Brittney (Steve) Berryman, DJ Arends, Taylor (Northey) Tretheway, and John Arends; her great-grandchildren, Tatton, Holland, Ruben, Ellen, Gwen, Vivian, Edith, Charlie, Jack, and Lucy; her siblings, Gay Mead Heppes and Sandra Nelson; and numerous nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Nancy Arends and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Nancy Arends as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
