SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Nancy Arends of River Forest, who
4passed away on August 26, 2022 at the age of 88; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Nancy Arends was born on July 18, 1934 to the late
6Kirk and Virginia Holland; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Nancy Arends attended college at Northwestern
8University, where she joined the Gamma Phi Beta Sorority and
9graduated with a degree in education; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Nancy Arends, after graduating from Northwestern
11in 1956, married Chuck Arends in 1957, and shortly thereafter,
12they located to River Forest; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Nancy Arends taught at Irving Elementary School
14in Oak Park for over 35 years and, upon retirement, continued
15to work with young children at Galewood Child Care Center; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Nancy Arends was a longtime member of the River
17Forest Tennis Club and the First Presbyterian Church of River
18Forest; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Nancy Arends loved to knit and play cards, but

1most of all, she loved watching her children and grandchildren
2participate in sports; and
 
3    WHEREAS, At the time of her passing, Nancy Arends was
4survived by her children, Mary-Kirk (Robert) Reyff, Virginia
5(Robert) Palmer, Chuck (Susan) Arends, and Dan (Sue) Arends;
6her grandchildren, Kristy (Kyle) Wasser, Ryan Reyff, Heather
7Welesko, Kelly (Luke) Kirsh, Ryan (Stephanie) Palmer, Brittney
8(Steve) Berryman, DJ Arends, Taylor (Northey) Tretheway, and
9John Arends; her great-grandchildren, Tatton, Holland, Ruben,
10Ellen, Gwen, Vivian, Edith, Charlie, Jack, and Lucy; her
11siblings, Gay Mead Heppes and Sandra Nelson; and numerous
12nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15Nancy Arends and extend our sincere condolences to her family,
16friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Nancy Arends as an expression of our
19deepest sympathy.
