SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Milan Kajfez of Waukegan, who passed away on July 27, 2019; and

WHEREAS, Milan Kajfez was born in Banja Loka, Slovenia, Yugoslavia to Matija and Katarina (Marinc) Kajfez on July 8, 1929; he immigrated to the U.S. in 1951 and settled in Waukegan; he married Dolores "Tookie" Sutinis at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in 1959; and

WHEREAS, Milan Kajfez became a dental technician and owner of Waukegan Dental Laboratory; he was an active member and past-president of the Illinois Dental Lab Association; and

WHEREAS, Milan Kajfez treated his employees like family and hosted regular volleyball games and cook outs for them; he and his wife enjoyed hosting social gatherings in their yard; he enjoyed the outdoors and woodworking and was an avid gardener, tennis player, hunter, and fisherman; his greatest legacy was his family; in 2018, he took a "trip of a lifetime" to visit his homeland; and

WHEREAS, Milan Kajfez was preceded in death by his parents and 13 siblings; and

WHEREAS, Milan Kajfez is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dolores; his children, Laura (Chris Messer) Kajfez, Mark (Diane) Kajfez, and Lisa (Michael) May; his sister, Cveta (Stefan) Stojko; his grandchildren, Tony Kajfez, Samantha Kajfez, James Epperson, Olivia Kajfez, Evan Epperson, Adam Messer, and Paul Messer; and numerous nieces and nephews in Slovenia and Germany; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Milan Kajfez and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Milan Kajfez as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
