SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of James D. Kell of Rochester, formerly of Springfield, who passed away on September 13, 2020; and

WHEREAS, James Kell was born to Cecil and Ruth (Copple) Kell in Centralia on March 3, 1925; upon graduation from high school, he proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1946; he earned two Overseas Service Bars, an American Campaign Medal, a European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with two Bronze Battle Stars, a Good Conduct Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal; he was proud to have attended an honor flight to Washington D.C. later in life; he married Margaret Ann Murphy on November 4, 1949; and

WHEREAS, James Kell worked as a draftsman; he was first employed by Sangamo Electric and then by Dickey John; he retired in 1989; and

WHEREAS, James Kell loved working with his hands; he enjoyed model railroading (N Gauge) and playing golf; his greatest source of joy was his family, particularly his grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, James Kell was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; his two brothers; his two sisters; and one great-grandson; and

WHEREAS, James Kell is survived by his four children, Kevin (Peggy) Kell, Mary Ann Mitchell, Karen (Rick) Vance, and Tim (Suzanne) Kell; his eleven grandchildren; and his seven great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of James D. Kell and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of James Kell as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
