SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of James D. Kell of Rochester, formerly of
4Springfield, who passed away on September 13, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, James Kell was born to Cecil and Ruth (Copple)
6Kell in Centralia on March 3, 1925; upon graduation from high
7school, he proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1946;
8he earned two Overseas Service Bars, an American Campaign
9Medal, a European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with
10two Bronze Battle Stars, a Good Conduct Medal, and the World
11War II Victory Medal; he was proud to have attended an honor
12flight to Washington D.C. later in life; he married Margaret
13Ann Murphy on November 4, 1949; and
 
14    WHEREAS, James Kell worked as a draftsman; he was first
15employed by Sangamo Electric and then by Dickey John; he
16retired in 1989; and
 
17    WHEREAS, James Kell loved working with his hands; he
18enjoyed model railroading (N Gauge) and playing golf; his
19greatest source of joy was his family, particularly his
20grandchildren; and
 
21    WHEREAS, James Kell was preceded in death by his wife; his

1parents; his two brothers; his two sisters; and one
2great-grandson; and
 
3    WHEREAS, James Kell is survived by his four children, Kevin
4(Peggy) Kell, Mary Ann Mitchell, Karen (Rick) Vance, and Tim
5(Suzanne) Kell; his eleven grandchildren; and his seven
6great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9James D. Kell and extend our sincere condolences to his family,
10friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of James Kell as an expression of our
13deepest sympathy.
