SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Richard J. "Rich" Ivnik of Springfield, who passed away on March 9, 2020; and

WHEREAS, Rich Ivnik was born in Joliet to Michael Ivnik and Julia Konopek on January 16, 1927; he served in the U.S. Army during World War II and married Lucille "CeleAnn" McCarthy at the Cathedral of St. Raymond in Joliet on June 21, 1947; and

WHEREAS, Rich Ivnik worked as a systems analyst programmer for Caterpillar; he retired in 1983 after 33 years of service; and

WHEREAS, Rich Ivnik was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Knights of Columbus Council 364 (4th Degree), and Christ the King Parish; he was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and Joliet Catholic Academy sports and enjoyed fishing at several Wisconsin lakes; and

WHEREAS, Rich Ivnik was preceded in death by his son, Robert Ivnik; his parents; and his brothers, Robert, Edward, and Raymond Ivnik; and

WHEREAS, Rich Ivnik is survived by his wife of over 72 years, CeleAnn; his daughters, Barbara J. (Richard) Lyons and Mary Jo (Jodi) Hendricksen; his daughter-in-law, Marie Ivnik; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Richard J. "Rich" Ivnik and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Rich Ivnik as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
