SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Billy L. Butterfield of Springfield, who passed away on August 24, 2020; and

WHEREAS, Billy Butterfield was born in Owaneco to Harry and Loeva (Large) Butterfield on April 6, 1931; he married Georgia E. Rensman on October 11, 1958; he served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War; he was a resident of the Springfield area for over 60 years; and

WHEREAS, Billy Butterfield was a member of Salisbury Christian Church; he volunteered at Lewis Memorial Christian Village for many years; he was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan and an Illini basketball fan; and

WHEREAS, Billy Butterfield was preceded in death by his parents, four siblings, and two great-grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, Billy Butterfield is survived by his wife, Georgia; his daughters, Diane (John D.) Wyatt and Karen (Jeff) Bersch; his 11 grandchildren; his five great-grandchildren; his brother, Charles (Jackie) Butterfield; and his several nieces, nephews, and cousins; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Billy L. Butterfield and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Billy Butterfield as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
