SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Carleton "Tex" Munday of Normal, who passed away on August 14, 2020; and

WHEREAS, Carleton Munday was born to Adlai S. and Elizabeth Smith Munday in 1922; at the outbreak of World War Two, he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps; he served as a B-24 pilot and flew 51 missions in the China-Burma-India Theater; and

WHEREAS, Carleton Munday worked for AT&T Long Lines in Springfield and Peoria for 29 years; after moving to Normal, he was employed by State Farm Insurance for 17 years until his retirement in 1986; and

WHEREAS, Carleton Munday was known for his honesty, loyalty, patience, and positive outlook; he was a proud veteran who epitomized the qualities of the Greatest Generation; he loved his family, had a zest for life, and was involved in his church and the community; he was a lifelong fan of the Cubs and the Fighting Illini and loved playing golf; and

WHEREAS, Carleton Munday was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 72 years, Virginia Collyer Munday; and

WHEREAS, Carleton Munday is survived by his three children, Gary (Lucille) Munday, Sandy (Paul) Hickman, and Carla (Ed) Books; his six grandchildren; and his 14 great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Carleton "Tex" Munday and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Carleton Munday as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
