SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Carleton "Tex" Munday of Normal, who
4passed away on August 14, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Carleton Munday was born to Adlai S. and Elizabeth
6Smith Munday in 1922; at the outbreak of World War Two, he
7enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps; he served as a B-24 pilot
8and flew 51 missions in the China-Burma-India Theater; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Carleton Munday worked for AT&T Long Lines in
10Springfield and Peoria for 29 years; after moving to Normal, he
11was employed by State Farm Insurance for 17 years until his
12retirement in 1986; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Carleton Munday was known for his honesty,
14loyalty, patience, and positive outlook; he was a proud veteran
15who epitomized the qualities of the Greatest Generation; he
16loved his family, had a zest for life, and was involved in his
17church and the community; he was a lifelong fan of the Cubs and
18the Fighting Illini and loved playing golf; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Carleton Munday was preceded in death by his
20parents and his wife of 72 years, Virginia Collyer Munday; and

1    WHEREAS, Carleton Munday is survived by his three children,
2Gary (Lucille) Munday, Sandy (Paul) Hickman, and Carla (Ed)
3Books; his six grandchildren; and his 14 great-grandchildren;
4therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
7Carleton "Tex" Munday and extend our sincere condolences to his
8family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
9further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Carleton Munday as an expression of
12our deepest sympathy.
