SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of James B. "Jim" McWethy of Downers Grove, who passed away on June 22, 2020; and

WHEREAS, Jim McWethy was born on Chicago's South Side to James D. McWethy and Muriel (Berry) McWethy on September 15, 1943; he was raised in Beverly and Palos Heights; he graduated from Cornell College in 1965; he earned his master's degree in Economics from Indiana University; he married Susan Wasilkoff; and

WHEREAS, Jim McWethy became a professor of Economics at Indiana University; he later returned to the Chicago area and began his professional career; he worked at the First National Bank of Chicago; he then dedicated many years to the Berry Bearing Company, which was founded by his entrepreneur grandfather, Les Berry; after retiring from Berry Bearing, he became the owner and operator of the Mistwood Golf Club, McWethy's Tavern, and the Mistwood Golf Dome, along with numerous other business ventures; and

WHEREAS, Jim McWethy's love and pride for the Mistwood Golf Club and the game of golf were only surpassed by his immense love and dedication to his family; he was known for being kind, humble, and generous; he will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him; and

WHEREAS, Jim McWethy was the beloved husband for 51 years of Susan (Wasilkoff) McWethy; the loving father of Todd (Krista Loomis) McWethy and Gretchen (Chris) Hupke; and the cherished grandfather of Sophia McWethy, Molly McWethy, Will Hupke, and Kate Hupke; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of James B. "Jim" McWethy and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Jim McWethy as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
