SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of James B. "Jim" McWethy of Downers Grove,
4who passed away on June 22, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jim McWethy was born on Chicago's South Side to
6James D. McWethy and Muriel (Berry) McWethy on September 15,
71943; he was raised in Beverly and Palos Heights; he graduated
8from Cornell College in 1965; he earned his master's degree in
9Economics from Indiana University; he married Susan Wasilkoff;
10and
 
11    WHEREAS, Jim McWethy became a professor of Economics at
12Indiana University; he later returned to the Chicago area and
13began his professional career; he worked at the First National
14Bank of Chicago; he then dedicated many years to the Berry
15Bearing Company, which was founded by his entrepreneur
16grandfather, Les Berry; after retiring from Berry Bearing, he
17became the owner and operator of the Mistwood Golf Club,
18McWethy's Tavern, and the Mistwood Golf Dome, along with
19numerous other business ventures; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Jim McWethy's love and pride for the Mistwood Golf
21Club and the game of golf were only surpassed by his immense
22love and dedication to his family; he was known for being kind,

1humble, and generous; he will be dearly missed by his family,
2friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Jim McWethy was the beloved husband for 51 years
4of Susan (Wasilkoff) McWethy; the loving father of Todd (Krista
5Loomis) McWethy and Gretchen (Chris) Hupke; and the cherished
6grandfather of Sophia McWethy, Molly McWethy, Will Hupke, and
7Kate Hupke; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10James B. "Jim" McWethy and extend our sincere condolences to
11his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
12further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Jim McWethy as an expression of our
15deepest sympathy.
