SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Mary Janette Roberts of Crystal Lake, who passed away on September 10, 2018; and

WHEREAS, Mary Roberts was born in Crystal Lake to Harry C. and Elizabeth (Williams) Shales on January 3, 1921; she graduated from Crystal Lake Community High School in 1938 and married Donald B. Roberts on December 15, 1945; and

WHEREAS, Mary Roberts worked several years in the office of the National Yeast Corporation; after raising her family, she worked for over 16 years at the Home State Bank of Crystal Lake until her retirement; and

WHEREAS, Mary Roberts was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church of Crystal Lake, a member of United Methodist Women, Dorcas Circle, and various small groups within the church; she was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star since 1940 and was Worthy Matron of Nunda Chapter #293 in 1946; and

WHEREAS, Mary Roberts enjoyed music, playing her piano, and traveling; and

WHEREAS, Mary Roberts was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; her parents; her sister, Harriet Hanson; her brothers, Leslie and Sterling Shales; and several nieces, a nephew, and several cousins; and

WHEREAS, Mary Roberts is survived by her sons, John (Carolyn) Roberts, Ronald (Melanie) Roberts, and Mark (Jean) Roberts; her grandchildren, Peter (Madeleine) Roberts, Adam (Melisa) Roberts, Joel (Lee Ann) Roberts, Susan (Reuben) McNeill, Andrew Roberts, and Amy Roberts; and seven great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Mary Janette Roberts and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Mary Roberts as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
