SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Mary Janette Roberts of Crystal Lake, who
4passed away on September 10, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Mary Roberts was born in Crystal Lake to Harry C.
6and Elizabeth (Williams) Shales on January 3, 1921; she
7graduated from Crystal Lake Community High School in 1938 and
8married Donald B. Roberts on December 15, 1945; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Mary Roberts worked several years in the office of
10the National Yeast Corporation; after raising her family, she
11worked for over 16 years at the Home State Bank of Crystal Lake
12until her retirement; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Mary Roberts was a lifelong member of the First
14United Methodist Church of Crystal Lake, a member of United
15Methodist Women, Dorcas Circle, and various small groups within
16the church; she was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star
17since 1940 and was Worthy Matron of Nunda Chapter #293 in 1946;
18and
 
19    WHEREAS, Mary Roberts enjoyed music, playing her piano, and
20traveling; and

1    WHEREAS, Mary Roberts was preceded in death by her husband,
2Donald; her parents; her sister, Harriet Hanson; her brothers,
3Leslie and Sterling Shales; and several nieces, a nephew, and
4several cousins; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Mary Roberts is survived by her sons, John
6(Carolyn) Roberts, Ronald (Melanie) Roberts, and Mark (Jean)
7Roberts; her grandchildren, Peter (Madeleine) Roberts, Adam
8(Melisa) Roberts, Joel (Lee Ann) Roberts, Susan (Reuben)
9McNeill, Andrew Roberts, and Amy Roberts; and seven
10great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13Mary Janette Roberts and extend our sincere condolences to her
14family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
15further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Mary Roberts as an expression of our
18deepest sympathy.
