SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn about the death of George T. Fehrenbacher, DDS of Joliet, who passed away on April 14, 2018; and

WHEREAS, George Fehrenbacher was born in Joliet to Frank and Mary (Blunk) Fehrenbacher on February 26, 1927; he graduated from St. Patrick's Grade School and Joliet Catholic High School; he joined the United States Coast Guard and was a proud veteran of World War II; upon discharge from the military, he attended St. Joseph College in Rensselear, Indiana for two years and then continued his undergraduate education at Loyola University, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in History; he married Eileen K. Kezerle in 1952; in 1954, he graduated from the Loyola University School of Dentistry; and

WHEREAS, George Fehrenbacher returned to Joliet and joined his father and uncle in their dental practice; he retired in 1988; during retirement, he and his wife operated Old Ground Antiques in Plainfield; and

WHEREAS, George Fehrenbacher was an active member of his community and profession; he was a Big Brother and was active in fundraising for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Will County; he was a devout Catholic, a proponent of Catholic education, and an active member of the Joliet Catholic Alumni Association; he was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church and a former member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where he served as an usher; he volunteered his professional services through the Salvation Army of Chicago and volunteered his time at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church Food Pantry; and

WHEREAS, George Fehrenbacher enjoyed traveling, especially to Ireland, reading novels and the New Yorker magazine, golfing, and spending time with his family; he will be remembered for his compassion and generosity; and

WHEREAS, George Fehrenbacher was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Eileen; and his brothers, John and Fritz Fehrenbacher; and

WHEREAS, George Fehrenbacher is survived by his daughters, Saran Fehrenbacher, Nancy (Bill) Fitzgerald, Julie Fehrenbacher, and Laura (Christopher "Kit") Kreid; his grandchildren, Emily and Christopher Kreid; his sisters, JoAnn (Tom) Sprague, Marian (Dick) Leaman, and Jane (Dick Talbot) Fehrenbacher); and his many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of George T. Fehrenbacher, DDS and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of George Fehrenbacher as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
