SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Robert J. Michna Sr. of Moline, who passed away on December 15, 2019; and

WHEREAS, Robert Michna was born in Chicago to Joseph and Frances (Ciasto) Michna on April 20, 1939; he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and married Marie Ponzo in Chicago on November 6, 1965; and

WHEREAS, Robert Michna worked at U.S. Steel in Chicago for over 50 years, retiring in 2000; and

WHEREAS, Robert Michna was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church, where he served as a lector; his favorite times were special holidays and family celebrations; he was an avid Chicago sports fan and loved golf; he took great joy in attending all of his grandchildren's sporting events, horse shows, and dance performances; and

WHEREAS, Robert Michna is survived by his wife, Marie; his children, Bob (Trish) Michna, Michele (Jim) Beghtol, and Brett (Laura) Michna; his grandchildren, Austin, Alec, Aiden, and Ava Michna, Josh, Morgan, and Kate Beghtol, and Cole, Cade, and Teague Michna; his brother, Ron (Virginia) Michna; and his nephews, Richard and Justin Michna; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Robert J. Michna Sr. and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Robert Michna as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
