SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Bobby Gene Doan of Arthur, who passed away on January 6, 2019; and

WHEREAS, Bobby Doan was born in El Paso, Texas to Robert and Florence Green Doan on July 5, 1945; he graduated from the University of Illinois with a Master of Science in Education and married Arlone Albert in Oakley on February 13, 1993; and

WHEREAS, Bobby Doan was involved in education for 35 years; he taught, coached, or served as athletic director at schools in Noble, Arthur, Pontiac, Sullivan, and Tolono; he served in the administration at Bethany, Bement, and Villa Grove; he was a member of the Illinois Principals Association and the Illinois High School Association, where he served on the Legislative Commission from 1993 to 2001; and

WHEREAS, After retiring, Bobby Doan drove a milk truck; he was involved with the Arthur Area Economic Development Corporation and the East Central Illinois Economic Development Corporation; he also served as the Bourbon Township Tax Assessor and owned Second Chance Wood; and

WHEREAS, Bobby Doan was a member of the Arthur United Methodist Church, where he was active in the Methodist Men's group and served as the church treasurer and on the fundraising expansion committee; he was past president of the Illini Quarterback Club and a former Rotarian; he was a founding member of the Illinois Amish Heritage Center Board; and

WHEREAS, Bobby Doan is survived by his wife, Arlone; his sons, Paul (Kara) and Mark (Sharon) Doan; his grandchildren, Haley Doan, Josephine Hayes, Madeline Doan, and Jacob Doan; his stepdaughters, Nichole Minard and Sarah Gibbons; his stepgrandchildren, Savannah Gibbons, Quintin Gibbons, Emma Minard, Colin Gibbons, and Kyler Lawrence Gibbons; his sister, Karen Sue (Robert) Phillips; and his brothers, Lonnie (Roberta) and Rick (Marilee) Doan; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Bobby Gene Doan and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Bobby Doan as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
