SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Bobby Gene Doan of Arthur, who passed
4away on January 6, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Bobby Doan was born in El Paso, Texas to Robert
6and Florence Green Doan on July 5, 1945; he graduated from the
7University of Illinois with a Master of Science in Education
8and married Arlone Albert in Oakley on February 13, 1993; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Bobby Doan was involved in education for 35 years;
10he taught, coached, or served as athletic director at schools
11in Noble, Arthur, Pontiac, Sullivan, and Tolono; he served in
12the administration at Bethany, Bement, and Villa Grove; he was
13a member of the Illinois Principals Association and the
14Illinois High School Association, where he served on the
15Legislative Commission from 1993 to 2001; and
 
16    WHEREAS, After retiring, Bobby Doan drove a milk truck; he
17was involved with the Arthur Area Economic Development
18Corporation and the East Central Illinois Economic Development
19Corporation; he also served as the Bourbon Township Tax
20Assessor and owned Second Chance Wood; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Bobby Doan was a member of the Arthur United

1Methodist Church, where he was active in the Methodist Men's
2group and served as the church treasurer and on the fundraising
3expansion committee; he was past president of the Illini
4Quarterback Club and a former Rotarian; he was a founding
5member of the Illinois Amish Heritage Center Board; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Bobby Doan is survived by his wife, Arlone; his
7sons, Paul (Kara) and Mark (Sharon) Doan; his grandchildren,
8Haley Doan, Josephine Hayes, Madeline Doan, and Jacob Doan; his
9stepdaughters, Nichole Minard and Sarah Gibbons; his
10stepgrandchildren, Savannah Gibbons, Quintin Gibbons, Emma
11Minard, Colin Gibbons, and Kyler Lawrence Gibbons; his sister,
12Karen Sue (Robert) Phillips; and his brothers, Lonnie (Roberta)
13and Rick (Marilee) Doan; therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
16Bobby Gene Doan and extend our sincere condolences to his
17family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
18further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of Bobby Doan as an expression of our
21deepest sympathy.
