SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Geraldine Harps on February 13, 2019; and

WHEREAS, Geraldine Harps was born to the union of Walter and Mattie L. Jones on January 14, 1952 in Chicago; she was the eldest of five children; and

WHEREAS, Geraldine Harps received her childhood education at Goodrich Elementary School and Richard T. Crane; she graduated from St. Mary Catholic High School in Chicago; and

WHEREAS, Geraldine Harps worked in the medical field her entire life and was a very active member of Living Word Christian Center and New Life Covenant Church for many years; and

WHEREAS, Geraldine Harps dedicated her life to serving others and was committed and devoted to her faith; she was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and aunt and a dear friend to others; and

WHEREAS, Geraldine Harps was united in Holy Matrimony to Robert F. Harps on July 07, 2007; and

WHEREAS, Geraldine Harps is survived by her children, Melisa (Marshall), Willie III (Brunlida), and Mattie; her sisters and brothers, Nadine (Johnny), Patricia (Samuel), Walter (Gloria), and Solomon (Angela); her grandchildren, Jaleesa, Jasmine, Jernell, Ryishie, Renisha, Willie IV, Rayven, Ryan, Taniya, and Marissa (Elijah); her 13 great-grandchildren; as well as many relatives and dear friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Geraldine Harps and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Geraldine Harps as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
