HALVORSON-MADIGAN,L. New Act Creates the Victims of Domestic Violence Employment Leave Act. Provides that an employer may not discharge or in any manner discriminate against an employee for taking time off from work to serve as required by law on a grand or petit jury, or for obtaining or attempting to obtain relief as a victim of domestic violence. Also prohibits an employer with 25 or more employees from discharging, discriminating, or retaliating against an employee who is a victim of domestic violence, for taking time off from work to seek medical attention or counseling for injuries or psychological trauma caused by the incident of domestic violence.
