 1                    AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 1493

 2        AMENDMENT NO.     .  Amend Senate Bill 1493 on page 5, by
 3    replacing lines 6 through 8 with the following:
 4    "during a State fiscal year, that beneficiary"; and

 5    on page  5,  by  replacing  lines  11  through  13  with  the
 6    following:
 7    "remainder of the fiscal year.  To become a beneficiary under
 8    this program a"; and

 9    by replacing lines 29 through 34 on page 6 and line 1 on page
10    7 with the following:
11    "per coverage year for all other persons."; and

12    on page 8, by replacing lines 13 and 14 with the following:
13    "4  shall  be  valid for a period not to exceed one year.  On
14    and after the effective date of this amendatory  Act  of  the
15    92nd  General  Assembly, however, to enable the Department to
16    convert coverage  for  a  pharmaceutical  assistance  program
17    participant  to  a  State  fiscal year basis, a card shall be
18    valid  for  a  longer  or  shorter  period  than  12  months,
19    depending on  the  date  a  timely  claim  is  filed  and  as
20    determined  by  the  Department.  All applicants for benefits
21    under this program approved for benefits on or after  July  1
22    but  on  or  before  December 31 of any State fiscal year are

 1    eligible for benefits through June 30 of  that  State  fiscal
 2    year.    All  applicants  for  benefits  under  this  program
 3    approved for benefits on or after January 1 but on or  before
 4    June  30  of  any State fiscal year are eligible for benefits
 5    through June 30 of the following State fiscal year.".
