1 AN ACT concerning elections.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Election Code is amended by adding
5 Section 1A-20 as follows:
6 (10 ILCS 5/1A-20 new)
7 Sec. 1A-20. Equipment upgrade loan program. For a
8 period of 5 years after the effective date of this amendatory
9 Act of the 92nd General Assembly, from funds appropriated for
10 this purpose, the State Board of Elections shall develop and
11 implement a program of low-interest loans to election
12 authorities for upgrading election equipment. The interest
13 rate charged shall equal one-half the State's general
14 obligation bond rate at the time of the loan. The State Board
15 shall adopt rules necessary for the implementation of this
16 Section.
