1 AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 3029
2 AMENDMENT NO. . Amend House Bill 3029 on page 1, in
3 line 14 by replacing "The State Board" with the following:
4 "For the purpose of this Section, "upgrading election
5 equipment" means purchasing or leasing in-precinct automatic
6 vote tabulation equipment that has voting defect
7 identification capability, including but not limited to
8 equipment as provided in Articles 24A and 24B, for use after
9 the effective date of this amendatory Act of the 92nd General
10 Assembly, regardless of whether the equipment was purchased
11 or leased before the effective date of this amendatory Act of
12 the 92nd General Assembly. "Voting defect" means an
13 undervoted ballot, an overvoted ballot, a ballot that cannot
14 be read by the automatic tabulation equipment, or a ballot
15 that does not contain the initials of a judge of election.
