1 AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 1853
2 AMENDMENT NO. . Amend Senate Bill 1853 by replacing
3 the title with the following:
4 "AN ACT to amend the Public Utilities Act by adding
5 Section 5-110."; and
6 by replacing everything after the enacting clause with the
7 following:
8 "Section 5. The Public Utilities Act is amended by
9 adding Section 5-110 as follows:
10 (220 ILCS 5/5-110 new)
11 Sec. 5-110. Customer information confidential. All
12 customer record information including, but not limited to,
13 social security numbers, public aid numbers, and employment
14 data is confidential and may be used by the public utility
15 and its affiliates for internal purposes only. A public
16 utility may not disclose customer record information to
17 anyone other than the customer or the customer's duly
18 authorized representative unless the customer authorizes the
19 disclosure or the customer record information is subject to a
20 lawful subpoena, summons, warrant, or court order. If the
21 customer record information is the subject of a lawful

1 subpoena, summons, warrant, or court order, the public
2 utility shall notify the customer of the subpoena, summons,
3 warrant, or court order before disclosing the information.
4 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
5 becoming law.".
