      30 ILCS 505/9             from Ch. 127, par. 132.9
          Amends the Illinois Purchasing Act.   Provides  that  any
      contract  entered  into  or  expenditure  of funds by a State
      agency for remodeling, renovation, or construction  involving
      an  expenditure  in  excess of $30,000 (now, $5,000) shall be
      subject  to  the  supervision  of  a  licensed  architect  or
      engineer.  Effective immediately.

 1        AN ACT to amend the Illinois Purchasing Act  by  changing
 2    Section 9.
 3        Be  it  enacted  by  the People of the State of Illinois,
 4    represented in the General Assembly:
 5        Section 5.  The Illinois Purchasing  Act  is  amended  by
 6    changing Section 9 as follows:
 7        (30 ILCS 505/9) (from Ch. 127, par. 132.9)
 8        Sec.  9.   Any  contract  entered  into or expenditure of
 9    funds  by  a  State  agency  for  remodeling,  renovation  or
10    construction, involving an expenditure in excess  of  $30,000
11    $5,000,  shall  be  subject  to the supervision of a licensed
12    architect or engineer and no payment shall be paid  for  such
13    remodeling, renovation or construction unless the vouchers or
14    invoice for such work is accompanied by a written certificate
15    of  such  licensed  architect  or  engineer  that the payment
16    represents work satisfactorily completed; labor; or materials
17    incorporated in or stored at the site of such work; provided,
18    periodic payments can be made during the course of such  work
19    upon a certificate of such licensed architect or engineer and
20    indicating   the  proportionate  amount  of  the  total  work
21    completed satisfactorily.

23        Section 99.  Effective date.  This Act takes effect  upon
24    becoming law.
