Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code to provide that the
Secretary of State shall deposit 50 cents of certain
vehicles' annual registration fee into the Secretary of State
Registration Plate Replacement Fund for use by the Office of
the Secretary to replace multi-year registration plates.

1 AN ACT concerning vehicles, amending named Acts.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The State Finance Act is amended by adding
5 Section 5.432 as follows:
6 (30 ILCS 105/5.432 new)
7 Sec. 5.432. The Secretary of State Registration Plate
8 Replacement Fund.
9 Section 10. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by
10 changing Section 3-806 as follows:
11 (625 ILCS 5/3-806) (from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 3-806)
12 Sec. 3-806. Registration Fees - Motor Vehicles of the
13 First Division. Every owner of any other motor vehicle of the
14 first division, except as provided in Sections 3-804, 3-805,
15 3-806.3, and 3-808, and every second division vehicle
16 weighing 8,000 pounds or less, shall pay the Secretary of
17 State an annual registration fee at the following rates:

17 The Secretary of State shall deposit 50 cents of the
18 annual registration fee into the Secretary of State
19 Registration Plate Replacement Fund. The Secretary of State
20 Registration Plate Replacement Fund is created as a special
21 fund in the State treasury. All money in the Secretary of
22 State Registration Plate Replacement Fund shall be used,
23 subject to appropriation, by the Office of the Secretary of
24 State to replace multi-year registration plates issued under
25 Section 3-414.1.
