Amends the State Treasurer Employment Code. Makes those
positions in the Office of the State Treasurer otherwise
exempt from the Code subject to the requirement of criminal
background investigations.

1 AN ACT to amend the State Treasurer Employment Code by
2 changing Section 5a.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The State Treasurer Employment Code is
6 amended by changing Section 5a as follows:
7 (15 ILCS 510/5a) (from Ch. 130, par. 105a)
8 Sec. 5a. General exemptions. The following positions in
9 the Office shall be exempt from all Sections of this Code
10 except Section 9b.1:
11 (a) The Deputy State Treasurer, Assistant to the State
12 Treasurer, Executive Assistant to the State Treasurer and
13 Chief Fiscal Officer;
14 (b) The personal secretaries and administrative
15 assistants to the Treasurer;
16 (c) Persons exercising substantial executive or
17 administrative functions who have, as their primary
18 responsibility, the operation of an organizational entity in
19 the Office of the State Treasurer;
20 (d) Licensed attorneys in positions as legal or
21 technical advisors, except in those positions paid from
22 federal funds if such exemption is inconsistent with federal
23 requirements.
