New Act
Creates the Endangering School Bus Transportation Act.
Provides that the offense of endangering school bus
transportation is committed when a person tampers with a
facility of school bus transportation with intent to cause
damage, malfunction, or nonfunction or knowingly threatens a
driver or passenger with death or imminent bodily injury or
with a deadly weapon or words or actions intended to induce
belief that the person is armed with a deadly weapon.
Provides that the offense is a Class A misdemeanor.

1 AN ACT concerning school buses.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 1. Short title. This Act may be cited as the
5 Endangering School Bus Transportation Act.
6 Section 5. Definition. In this Act, "school bus" has
7 the same meaning as it has in the Illinois Vehicle Code.
8 Section 10. Endangering school bus transportation. A
9 person commits the offense of endangering school bus
10 transportation if the person does any one or more of the
11 following:
12 (1) Tampers with a school bus or school bus facility
13 with intent to cause any damage, malfunction, or nonfunction.
14 (2) On a school bus knowingly threatens any driver or
15 passenger:
16 (A) with death or imminent bodily injury; or
17 (B) with a deadly weapon or with words or actions
18 intended to induce belief that the person is armed with a
19 deadly weapon.
20 Section 15. Sentence. Endangering school bus
21 transportation is a Class A misdemeanor.
