LRB9000999EGfg LRB9000999EGfg 1 AN ACT to revise the law by combining multiple enactments 2 and making technical corrections. 3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 4 represented in the General Assembly: 5 ARTICLE 1 6 GENERAL PROVISIONS 7 Section 1-1. This Act may be cited as the Second 1997 8 General Revisory Act. 9 Section 1-2. This Act is not intended to make any 10 substantive change in the law. It reconciles conflicts that 11 have arisen from multiple amendments and enactments and makes 12 technical corrections and revisions in the law. 13 In this Act, the reference at the end of each amended 14 Section indicates the sources in the Session Laws of Illinois 15 that were used in the preparation of the text of that 16 Section. The text of the Section included in this Act is 17 intended to include the different versions of the Section 18 found in the Public Acts included in the list of sources, but 19 may not include other versions of the Section to be found in 20 Public Acts not included in the list of sources. The list of 21 sources is not a part of the text of the Section. 22 Section 1-3. This Act is divided into the following 23 Articles: 24 ARTICLE 1. General Provisions. 25 ARTICLE 2. Combining Revisories. 26 ARTICLE 3. Technical Corrections. 27 ARTICLE 4. Effective Date and Nonacceleration. 28 ARTICLE 2 -2- LRB9000999EGfg 1 COMBINING REVISORIES 2 Section 2-1. This Article revises and, where appropriate, 3 renumbers certain Sections that have been added or amended by 4 more than one Public Act. This Article also corrects errors, 5 revises cross-references, and deletes obsolete text in those 6 Sections. In certain cases in which a repealed Act or 7 Section has been amended after being replaced with a 8 successor law, this Article incorporates the amendments to 9 the repealed Act or Section into the successor law. Public 10 Acts 89-443 through 89-707 were considered in the preparation 11 of this Article. 12 ARTICLE 3 13 TECHNICAL CORRECTIONS 14 Section 3-1. This Article amends various Acts to delete 15 obsolete text, to correct patent and technical errors, and to 16 revise cross-references. 17 ARTICLE 4 18 EFFECTIVE DATE AND NONACCELERATION 19 Section 4-1. No acceleration or delay. Where this Act 20 makes changes in a statute that is represented in this Act by 21 text that is not yet or no longer in effect (for example, a 22 Section represented by multiple versions), the use of that 23 text does not accelerate or delay the taking effect of (i) 24 the changes made by this Act or (ii) provisions derived from 25 any other Public Act. 26 Section 4-2. No revival or extension. This Act does not 27 revive or extend any Section or Act otherwise repealed. -3- LRB9000999EGfg 1 Section 4-99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon 2 becoming law.
