The Criminal Code of 1961 is amended by 6 changing Section 18-2 as follows: 7 (720 ILCS 5/18-2) (from Ch. 38, par. 18-2) 8 Sec. 18-2. Armed robbery. (a) A person commits armed 9 robbery when he or she violates Section 18-1 while he or she 10 carries on or about his or her person, or is otherwise armed 11 with a dangerous weapon. 12 (b) Sentence. 13 Armed robbery is a Class X felony. Armed robbery while 14 armed with a category I weapon as defined in Section 33A-1 of 15 this Code is a Class X felony for which the defendant shall 16 be sentenced to a minimum term of imprisonment of 15 years. 17 (Source: P.A. 80-1099.)
