LRB9000652DNmb LRB9000652DNmb 1 AN ACT to amend the Illinois Municipal Code by adding 2 Section 11-30-11. 3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 4 represented in the General Assembly: 5 Section 5. The Illinois Municipal Code is amended by 6 adding Section 11-30-11 as follows: 7 (65 ILCS 5/11-30-11 new) 8 Sec. 11-30-11. Licensing of rental property managers. 9 The corporate authorities of a municipality may license and 10 regulate residential rental property managers to promote the 11 health, safety, and welfare of the public and of the 12 occupants of residential rental property. In this Section: 13 (1) "Apartment" means a self-contained residential 14 living unit, with private bath and cooking facilities, that 15 is intended for occupation as a permanent place of abode, 16 rather than on a transient basis for a short period of 17 occupancy, by someone other than the owner of the property. 18 (2) "Residential rental property" means a building or 19 portion of a building, other than a hotel or motel, that 20 contains 3 or more apartments that are not occupied by the 21 owner of the building. 22 (3) "Residential rental property manager" means any 23 person, firm, or corporation having personal management or 24 control of residential rental property, whether as a legal or 25 equitable owner, as a managing agent, or otherwise.
