1 AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 89
2 AMENDMENT NO. . Amend House Bill 89 by replacing the
3 title with the following:
4 "AN ACT regarding nursing home safety."; and
5 by replacing everything after the enacting clause with the
6 following:
7 "Section 1. Short title. This Act may be cited as the
8 Nursing Home Resident Protection Act of 1997.
9 Section 5. Purpose. The purpose of this Act is to:
10 (1) Ensure resident safety through appropriate staff
11 assignments.
12 (2) Establish appropriate penalties for violations of
13 the Nursing Home Care Act.
14 (3) Permit full public participation in the creation and
15 monitoring of safety policy in nursing homes.
16 (4) Create a cause of action for the failure of
17 designated State employees to monitor nursing homes
18 adequately.
19 (5) Otherwise address nursing home safety concerns.".
