SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
New Act
815 ILCS 505/2Z   from Ch. 121 1/2, par. 262Z

    Creates the Truth in Tickets Act. Provides that, with each ticket sold, a ticket broker must provide to the buyer a written statement setting forth and explaining all of the fees imposed by the ticket broker on the sale of the ticket. Amends the Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act. Provides that a violation of the Truth in Tickets Act is a violation of the Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act.

1     AN ACT concerning business transactions.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 1. Short title. This Act may be cited as the Truth
5 in Tickets Act.
 
6     Section 5. Definitions. As used in this Act:
7     "Fee" means any fee or other charge imposed by a ticket
8 broker on the sale of a ticket other than the printed box
9 office ticket price.
10     "Ticket" means a ticket of admission to a sporting event,
11 theater, musical performance, or place of public entertainment
12 or amusement of any kind.
13     "Ticket broker" means a broker who is exempt from the
14 provisions of the Ticket Scalping Act under subsection (b) of
15 Section 1.5 of the Ticket Scalping Act.
 
16     Section 10. Statement of fees.
17     (a) With each ticket sold, a ticket broker must provide to
18 the buyer a written statement setting forth and explaining all
19 of the fees imposed on the sale of the ticket.
20     (b) A violation of this Act constitutes a violation of the
21 Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act.
 
22     Section 900. The Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business
23 Practices Act is amended by changing Section 2Z as follows:
 
24     (815 ILCS 505/2Z)  (from Ch. 121 1/2, par. 262Z)
25     Sec. 2Z. Violations of other Acts. Any person who knowingly
26 violates the Automotive Repair Act, the Home Repair and
27 Remodeling Act, the Truth in Tickets Act, the Dance Studio Act,
28 the Physical Fitness Services Act, the Hearing Instrument
29 Consumer Protection Act, the Illinois Union Label Act, the Job

1 Referral and Job Listing Services Consumer Protection Act, the
2 Travel Promotion Consumer Protection Act, the Credit Services
3 Organizations Act, the Automatic Telephone Dialers Act, the
4 Pay-Per-Call Services Consumer Protection Act, the Telephone
5 Solicitations Act, the Illinois Funeral or Burial Funds Act,
6 the Cemetery Care Act, the Safe and Hygienic Bed Act, the
7 Pre-Need Cemetery Sales Act, the High Risk Home Loan Act,
8 subsection (a) or (b) of Section 3-10 of the Cigarette Tax Act,
9 subsection (a) or (b) of Section 3-10 of the Cigarette Use Tax
10 Act, the Electronic Mail Act, paragraph (6) of subsection (k)
11 of Section 6-305 of the Illinois Vehicle Code, or the Automatic
12 Contract Renewal Act commits an unlawful practice within the
13 meaning of this Act.
