| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 |
| learn of the death of
Daniel J. Buckley of Aurora, who passed | 4 |
| away on March 19, 2008; and
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Daniel J. Buckley was born on February 6, 1927 in | 6 |
| Aurora; his parents were James and Christine (Schwartz) | 7 |
| Buckley; and
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, Daniel J. Buckley was born and raised in Aurora; | 9 |
| he was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church; and
| 10 |
| WHEREAS, Daniel J. Buckley graduated from St. Joseph Grade | 11 |
| School in 1941, Marmion Military Academy in 1944, and the | 12 |
| University of Notre Dame in 1949, where he became a lifelong | 13 |
| Notre Dame fan; and | 14 |
| WHEREAS, Daniel J. Buckley held the rank of Platoon | 15 |
| Sergeant as a distinguished member of the United States Army, | 16 |
| serving in Germany from 1950 through 1952; and
| 17 |
| WHEREAS, Daniel J. Buckley was the owner/operator of | 18 |
| Buckley's Grocery on Aurora Avenue, a neighborhood landmark of | 19 |
| the Pigeon Hill community, for over 60 years; and

| WHEREAS, Daniel J. Buckley was a member of the Knights of | 2 |
| Columbus, the Wild Rose Club, the Phoenix Club, and the Turner | 3 |
| Club; and | 4 |
| WHEREAS, Daniel J. Buckley was preceded in death by his | 5 |
| first wife, Dorothy (Eckle) Buckley; and his parents; and
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, Daniel J. Buckley is survived by his wife, | 7 |
| Kathleen J. (Ragan) Buckley; his children, Kathleen Buckley, | 8 |
| James Buckley, Sandra (Bruce) Steinke, and Susan (Richard) | 9 |
| Parrino; his stepchildren, Wayne (Sharon) Schopp, Michael | 10 |
| (Judy) Schopp, Randy (Jay) Schopp, Rick (Inday) Schopp, and | 11 |
| Vicki (Tom) Groom; his seven grandchildren and eleven | 12 |
| step-grandchildren; his six step great-grandchildren; and his | 13 |
| sister, Marilyn (Elwyn "John") Johnson; therefore, be it
| 14 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL | 15 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | 16 |
| his family and friends, the passing of Daniel J. Buckley; and | 17 |
| be it further
| 18 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 19 |
| presented to the family of Daniel J. Buckley as an expression | 20 |
| of our sympathy.
