| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of James "Jim" A. Johnston, who passed | 4 | | away on March 18, 2022; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Jim Johnston was born to James M. and Margaret | 6 | | (Birch) Johnston in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on May 29, 1945; he | 7 | | graduated from Washington High School in 1964 and then from | 8 | | the University of Illinois School of Architecture; he married | 9 | | Pamela (Schmidt) Rudin in Springfield in April of 1982; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Jim Johnston owned James A. Johnston and | 11 | | Associates for over 25 years; he was also an accomplished | 12 | | artist and photographer; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Jim Johnston was a founding board member of | 14 | | Downtown Springfield, Inc. and founder of Sustainable | 15 | | Springfield, Inc.; he was a scout master for Boy Scout Troop 2 | 16 | | and was twice president of the Sertoma Club; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Jim Johnston was very active in the Baha'i | 18 | | community and the American Indian community; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Jim Johnston was preceded in death by his parents | 20 | | and his son, Benjamin Rudin; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Jim Johnston is survived by his wife, Pam; his | 2 | | sons, Ryan (Rebecca) Johnston and Christopher (Allison) Rudin; | 3 | | his daughter-in-law, Rebecca Rudin; his grandchildren, Eli, | 4 | | Liam, and Aspen Rudin and Landon and Evan Hagerman; his | 5 | | brother, Don (Sue) Johnston; and several nieces, nephews, and | 6 | | cousins; therefore, be it
| 7 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | 8 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
| 9 | | James "Jim" A. Johnston and extend our sincere
condolences to | 10 | | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
him; and be it | 11 | | further
| 12 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
| 13 | | presented to the family of Jim Johnston as an expression of
our | 14 | | deepest sympathy.
