SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of James "Jim" A. Johnston, who passed
4away on March 18, 2022; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jim Johnston was born to James M. and Margaret
6(Birch) Johnston in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on May 29, 1945; he
7graduated from Washington High School in 1964 and then from
8the University of Illinois School of Architecture; he married
9Pamela (Schmidt) Rudin in Springfield in April of 1982; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Jim Johnston owned James A. Johnston and
11Associates for over 25 years; he was also an accomplished
12artist and photographer; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Jim Johnston was a founding board member of
14Downtown Springfield, Inc. and founder of Sustainable
15Springfield, Inc.; he was a scout master for Boy Scout Troop 2
16and was twice president of the Sertoma Club; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Jim Johnston was very active in the Baha'i
18community and the American Indian community; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Jim Johnston was preceded in death by his parents
20and his son, Benjamin Rudin; and

1    WHEREAS, Jim Johnston is survived by his wife, Pam; his
2sons, Ryan (Rebecca) Johnston and Christopher (Allison) Rudin;
3his daughter-in-law, Rebecca Rudin; his grandchildren, Eli,
4Liam, and Aspen Rudin and Landon and Evan Hagerman; his
5brother, Don (Sue) Johnston; and several nieces, nephews, and
6cousins; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9James "Jim" A. Johnston and extend our sincere condolences to
10his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Jim Johnston as an expression of our
14deepest sympathy.
