| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of Linda McNeely of Rockford, who passed | 4 | | away on April 24, 2023; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Linda McNeely was born to John and Juanita | 6 | | McNeely in Rockford on September 16, 1955; she graduated from | 7 | | Auburn High School; she earned her associate's degree from | 8 | | Wilbur Wright College, her bachelor's degree in government | 9 | | from the University of Denver, and her master's degree in | 10 | | business from Roosevelt University; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Linda McNeely was a self-employed tax preparer | 12 | | with Ameritax; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, For 26 years, Linda McNeely served as the | 14 | | alderperson of the 13th Ward and on many subcommittees; she | 15 | | also served as a member of the Illinois Democrat State Central | 16 | | Committee Women; in 2022, she was a candidate for Illinois' | 17 | | District 17 of the U.S. House of Representatives; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Linda McNeely was a member of Macedonia Baptist | 19 | | Church; and
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Linda McNeely was preceded in death by her |

| 1 | | parents; her sisters, Anna Marie Pickett and Marie Hudson; and | 2 | | her brother, Leon McNeely; and
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Linda McNeely is survived by her nephews, Andrew | 4 | | McNeely, Lamont Hudson, Pierre McNeely, Christopher Pickett, | 5 | | Hassan (Carla) Muhammad, and Lawrence (Stephanie) Pickett; her | 6 | | niece, Lophina Thompson; her great-nieces, Drewina, Jasmine, | 7 | | Kelli, and Asia; her great-nephew, Anjulion; and a host of | 8 | | other relatives and friends; therefore, be it
| 9 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL | 10 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
| 11 | | Linda McNeely and extend our sincere
condolences to her | 12 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved
her; and be it | 13 | | further
| 14 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
