SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Linda McNeely of Rockford, who passed
4away on April 24, 2023; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Linda McNeely was born to John and Juanita
6McNeely in Rockford on September 16, 1955; she graduated from
7Auburn High School; she earned her associate's degree from
8Wilbur Wright College, her bachelor's degree in government
9from the University of Denver, and her master's degree in
10business from Roosevelt University; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Linda McNeely was a self-employed tax preparer
12with Ameritax; and
 
13    WHEREAS, For 26 years, Linda McNeely served as the
14alderperson of the 13th Ward and on many subcommittees; she
15also served as a member of the Illinois Democrat State Central
16Committee Women; in 2022, she was a candidate for Illinois'
17District 17 of the U.S. House of Representatives; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Linda McNeely was a member of Macedonia Baptist
19Church; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Linda McNeely was preceded in death by her

1parents; her sisters, Anna Marie Pickett and Marie Hudson; and
2her brother, Leon McNeely; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Linda McNeely is survived by her nephews, Andrew
4McNeely, Lamont Hudson, Pierre McNeely, Christopher Pickett,
5Hassan (Carla) Muhammad, and Lawrence (Stephanie) Pickett; her
6niece, Lophina Thompson; her great-nieces, Drewina, Jasmine,
7Kelli, and Asia; her great-nephew, Anjulion; and a host of
8other relatives and friends; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Linda McNeely and extend our sincere condolences to her
12family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
13further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Linda McNeely as an expression of
16our deepest sympathy.
