SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

105 ILCS 5/10-20.87 new
105 ILCS 5/34-18.85 new
    Amends the School Code. Provides that a school district shall require a school to have present at the school during the school day and during a school-sponsored extracurricular activity at least one automated external defibrillator and one or more trained AED users. Provides that an automated external defibrillator installed and maintained in accordance with the Physical Fitness Facility Medical Emergency Preparedness Act may be used to satisfy this requirement.

1     AN ACT concerning education.

2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:

4     Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Sections
5 10-20.87 and 34-18.85 as follows:

6     (105 ILCS 5/10-20.87 new)
7     Sec. 10-20.87. Automated external defibrillator;
8 extracurricular activity.
9     (a) As used in this Section, "automated external
10 defibrillator" and "trained AED user" have the meanings
11 provided in the Automated External Defibrillator Act.
12     (b) A school district shall require a school to have
13 present at the school during the school day and during a
14 school-sponsored extracurricular activity at least one
15 automated external defibrillator and one or more trained AED
16 users.
17     (c) An automated external defibrillator installed and
18 maintained in accordance with the Physical Fitness Facility
19 Medical Emergency Preparedness Act may be used to satisfy the
20 requirements of this Section.
