AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 2929

2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 2929 by replacing
3everything after the enacting clause with the following:
 
4    "Section 5. The Election Code is amended by changing
5Sections 4-14.1 and 5-9.1 and by adding Section 1A-70 as
6follows:
 
7    (10 ILCS 5/1A-70 new)
8    Sec. 1A-70. Remove voter form. The State Board of
9Elections shall create a form to be used by an election
10authority to remove a voter from its roll.
 
11    (10 ILCS 5/4-14.1)  (from Ch. 46, par. 4-14.1)
12    Sec. 4-14.1. Cancelation of deceased voter's registration.
13Upon establishment of an electronic reporting system for death
14registrations as provided in the Vital Records Act, the county
15clerk of the county where a decedent last resided, as

1indicated on the decedent's death certificate, shall may issue
2certifications of death records from that system and shall may
3use that system to cancel the registration of any person who
4has died during the preceding month. Regardless of whether or
5not such a system has been established, it is the duty of the
6county clerk to examine, monthly, the records deposited in his
7or her office pursuant to the Vital Records Act that relate to
8deaths in the county, and to cancel the registration of any
9person who has died during the preceding month. The county
10clerk shall examine notifications of deaths provided by the
11county coroner and cancel the registration of any person who
12has died.

11    Section 10. The Counties Code is amended by adding Section
123-3046 as follows:
 
13    (55 ILCS 5/3-3046 new)
14    Sec. 3-3046. Notification to county clerk or election
15authority. A county coroner shall notify the local county
16clerk or local election authority of records concerning deaths
17the coroner investigates.".
