SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
20 ILCS 3930/4  from Ch. 38, par. 210-4

    Amends the Illinois Criminal Justice Information Act. Provides that the membership of the Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority shall include 3 individuals who report having been incarcerated in a Department of Corrections facility and 3 members of the general public (instead of 6 members of the general public). Effective immediately.

1    AN ACT concerning State Government.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Illinois Criminal Justice Information Act
5is amended by changing Section 4 as follows:
 
6    (20 ILCS 3930/4)  (from Ch. 38, par. 210-4)
7    Sec. 4. Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority;
8creation, membership, and meetings. There is created an
9Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority consisting of
1025 members. The membership of the Authority shall consist of
11the Illinois Attorney General, or his or her designee, the
12Director of Corrections, the Director of the Illinois State
13Police, the Director of Public Health, the Director of
14Children and Family Services, the Sheriff of Cook County, the
15State's Attorney of Cook County, the clerk of the circuit
16court of Cook County, the President of the Cook County Board of
17Commissioners, the Superintendent of the Chicago Police
18Department, the Director of the Office of the State's
19Attorneys Appellate Prosecutor, the Executive Director of the
20Illinois Law Enforcement Training Standards Board, the State
21Appellate Defender, the Public Defender of Cook County, and
22the following additional members, each of whom shall be
23appointed by the Governor: a circuit court clerk, a sheriff, a

1State's Attorney of a county other than Cook, a Public
2Defender of a county other than Cook, a chief of police, 3
3individuals who report having been incarcerated in a
4Department of Corrections facility, and 3 6 members of the
5general public.
6    Members appointed on and after the effective date of this
7amendatory Act of the 98th General Assembly shall be confirmed
8by the Senate.
9    The Governor from time to time shall designate a Chairman
10of the Authority from the membership. All members of the
11Authority appointed by the Governor shall serve at the
12pleasure of the Governor for a term not to exceed 4 years. The
13initial appointed members of the Authority shall serve from
14January, 1983 until the third Monday in January, 1987 or until
15their successors are appointed.
16    The Authority shall meet at least quarterly, and all
17meetings of the Authority shall be called by the Chairman.

19    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
20becoming law.
