AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 5277

AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 5277 as follows:

on page 12, line 22, after "courses", by inserting "or any course designated as enriched or honors"; and

on page 26, by replacing lines 9 through line 12 with the following:

"(3) the use of universal screening combined with local school-based norms for placement in accelerated and advanced learning programs;"; and

on page 26, line 13, by replacing "(5)" with "(4)"; and

on page 26, line 19, by replacing "(6)" with "(5)"; and

on page 40, immediately below line 9, by inserting the following:

""Gifted" means meeting the needs of gifted and talented children, as defined in Section 14A-20 of this Code and described in Section 14A-30 of this Code.".
