| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Daniel Frank Kerpan of Waukegan, who | 4 | | passed away on June 24, 2016; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Daniel Kerpan was born in Beach Park to Paul and | 6 | | Ana Kerpan on March 16, 1923; he attended Bonnie Brook Grade | 7 | | School and Waukegan Township and Zion Benton Township High | 8 | | Schools; he served in the United States Navy during World War | 9 | | II in the South Pacific; he married Lois Van Haecke on July 10, | 10 | | 1954; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Upon his return from service, Daniel Kerpan was | 12 | | employed at Cyclone Fence in North Chicago; after retirement, | 13 | | he spent many years working security at St. Therese Hospital in | 14 | | Waukegan; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, In October of 2012, Daniel Kerpan and his brother, | 16 | | Mike, joined 104 other World War II veterans on a Chicago-area | 17 | | Honor Flight for a tour of Washington, D.C.; and | 18 | | WHEREAS, Daniel Kerpan was a member of St. Anastasia | 19 | | Catholic Church and The Holy Name Society for more than 50 | 20 | | years; he served on many fund raising projects and was a | 21 | | dedicated worker at Wednesday Night Bingo; he was also a member |

| 1 | | of the Knights of Columbus and Lodge 848 of the Croatian | 2 | | Fraternal Union; his greatest love was golf and he was a | 3 | | longtime member of the Bonnie Brook Golf Club; he was paid a | 4 | | special tribute at the family's 50th Annual Kerpan Open for | 5 | | organizing the golf tournament in 1957; he loved watching golf | 6 | | tournaments and the Chicago Cubs, Bears, and the Bulls; and
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Daniel Kerpan was preceded in death by his | 8 | | parents; his grandson, Baby Ryan Kerpan; his brothers, Louis | 9 | | (Patricia), John, Steve (Ann), Jack, Joseph (Stella), Joe | 10 | | (Pat), and Paul (Rose); his sisters, Milka (Joso) Sulentic, | 11 | | Mary (Tony) Cervac, Katherine, Anna Kerpan, Katherine Kerpan, | 12 | | and Eva Conway; and his sister-in-law, Annette Kerpan; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Daniel Kerpan is survived by his wife, Lois; his | 14 | | sons, Daniel Jr. (Jan), Donald (Veronica), Richard (Sue), and | 15 | | Douglas; his grandsons, Kyle and John; his granddaughters, Kara | 16 | | Kerpan and Analise Kerpan; his sister, Amanda (James) Wolf; his | 17 | | brother, Michael Kerpan; his sister-in-law, Betty Kerpan; and | 18 | | four generations of nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
| 19 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | 20 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 21 | | Daniel Frank Kerpan, and extend our sincere condolences to his | 22 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 23 | | further
