SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
60 ILCS 1/45-20

    Amends the Township Code. Changes the date the township clerk shall certify the nominated candidates to not less than 68 days (currently, 61 days) before the township election.

1    AN ACT concerning local government.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Township Code is amended by changing Section
545-20 as follows:
 
6    (60 ILCS 1/45-20)
7    Sec. 45-20. Caucus result; filing nomination papers;
8certifying candidates.
9    (a) The township central committee shall canvass and
10declare the result of the caucus.
11    (b) The chairman of the township central committee shall,
12not more than 113 nor less than 106 days before the township
13election, file nomination papers as provided in this Section.
14The nomination papers shall consist of (i) a certification by
15the chairman of the names of all candidates for office in the
16township nominated at the caucus and (ii) a statement of
17candidacy by each candidate in the form prescribed in the
18general election law. The nomination papers shall be filed in
19the office of the township clerk, except that if the township
20is entirely within the corporate limits of a city, village, or
21incorporated town under the jurisdiction of a board of election
22commissioners, the nomination papers shall be filed in the
23office of the board of election commissioners instead of the

1township clerk.
2    (c) The township clerk shall certify the candidates so
3nominated to the proper election authorities not less than 68
461 days before the township election. The election shall be
5conducted in accordance with the general election law.
