SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
20 ILCS 405/405-282 new

    Amends the Department of Central Management Services Law of the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois. Provides that all State-owned vehicles that were reported in the Performance Audit of the Department of Central Management Services' Operation of the State Vehicles Fleet released by the Office of the Auditor General in November 2011 to have been driven 7,000 miles or less in Fiscal Year 2010 or that have an odometer reading of 7,000 miles or less on the effective date of the amendatory Act are deemed surplus and shall be sold using a competitive sealed bid method of sale on or before July 1, 2016. Provides that proceeds from the sale of those vehicles shall be deposited into the General Revenue Fund. Provides that those provisions do not apply to police or emergency vehicles. Effective immediately.

1    AN ACT concerning State government.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Department of Central Management Services
5Law of the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois is amended by
6adding Section 405-282 as follows:
 
7    (20 ILCS 405/405-282 new)
8    Sec. 405-282. Sale of State vehicles. Notwithstanding any
9other provision of law to the contrary, all State-owned
10vehicles that were reported in the Performance Audit of the
11Department of Central Management Services' Operation of the
12State Vehicles Fleet released by the Office of the Auditor
13General in November 2011 to have been driven 7,000 miles or
14less in Fiscal Year 2010 or that have an odometer reading of
157,000 miles or less on the effective date of this amendatory
16Act of the 99th General Assembly are deemed surplus and shall
17be sold using a competitive sealed bid method of sale on or
18before July 1, 2016. The 7,000 mile requirement set forth in
19this Section does not include miles driven while on official
20State business. This Section does not apply to police or
21emergency vehicles. Proceeds from the sale of vehicles as
22provided in this Section shall be deposited into the General
23Revenue Fund.

1    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
2becoming law.
