|
| 1 | | (2) an individual's receipt from a corrosion | 2 | | prevention industry credentialing organization, whose | 3 | | standards for corrosion prevention and mitigation methods | 4 | | are recognized by the Agency, of confirmation that the | 5 | | individual is adequately trained to carry out corrosion | 6 | | prevention and mitigation methods or inspections.
| 7 | | Section 10. The Illinois Highway Code is amended by adding | 8 | | Section 4-106 as follows: | 9 | | (605 ILCS 5/4-106 new) | 10 | | Sec. 4-106. Preservation of bridge infrastructure. | 11 | | (a) The Department shall adopt rules governing all | 12 | | corrosion prevention projects carried out on eligible bridges. | 13 | | The rules shall include: | 14 | | (1) a process for ensuring that corrosion prevention | 15 | | and mitigation methods are carried out according to | 16 | | corrosion prevention industry standards adopted by the | 17 | | Department for eligible bridges that include the use of | 18 | | industry trained and certified: | 19 | | (A) protective coatings personnel to carry out | 20 | | corrosion prevention and mitigation methods on any | 21 | | type of substrate or surface, but especially concrete | 22 | | and steel; and | 23 | | (B) inspectors to ensure best practices and | 24 | | standards are adhered to on a corrosion prevention |
